Watch Trump Lie About Mike Tyson’s Rape Conviction

I realize that if you’ve already jumped on the Trump Train, you don’t care whether anything he says is true or false. That’s not the point of Donald Trump. Just the opposite, really. After 8 years of Obama’s lies, and the prospect of 4-8 more years of Hillary Clinton’s lies, some Republicans have decided they prefer Trump’s lies. It’s a strange form of revenge: Republicans have put up with the Democrats brazenly lying to them for the better part of a decade, and now it’s time for Democrats to put up with a “Republican’s” brazen lies. So there.

If that describes you, then you won’t care about the following item. You may even become angry with me for blogging about it. That’s fine. Please go right ahead and throw a fit.

If you actually care about the truth, though: Hello! So nice to see you. Glad there are still a few of us left. Spite is fun, but it just isn’t enough to make us put aside our dignity and pretend to be okay with what this guy is doing.

When someone lies to me, I feel duty-bound to point it out. For example, here’s Donald Trump on Fox News Sunday yesterday, lying about Mike Tyson’s 1992 rape conviction (video courtesy of Streiff at Redstate):

“So Mike Tyson, over the Internet, endorsed me. He said, ‘I endorse Mr. Trump.’ He said that. That was it. No big deal. I didn’t have a meeting or anything. I haven’t seen Mike in years, but he said he endorsed me. So Cruz is now saying, ‘Oh, he was a rapist.’ This guy is a real liar. That’s why we call him Lyin’ Ted Cruz. I mean, the greatest liar that ever lived, except he gets caught every time.”

Trump tells an enormous, outrageous lie — that Mike Tyson isn’t a rapist — and then says it’s just more evidence that Cruz is the liar.

I’m not sure why Chris Wallace didn’t follow up. He knows Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist, and he knows Trump is lying about it. I guess it just doesn’t matter anymore?

Earlier this morning, one of my old posts about Hillary Clinton was trending, and I assume it’s because of this. Back in the ’70s, she successfully defended a rapist in court, which was her job as a defense attorney. She then laughed about it years later, which was her job as a Clinton. She treated rape like a joke, and she should be scorned for it.

So should Donald Trump. I don’t like being lied to, regardless of whether the liar has a (D) or an (R) after his name. If you’re fine with it, if you can put aside your principles to boost this guy, that’s on you.
