INDIANAPOLIS — At a campaign rally at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds, Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] described his debate with a Donald Trump supporter, telling his supporters that the man could not stop cursing and yelling at him as Cruz approached him.

“I was glad to see he was channeling the candidate he was supporting,” Cruz said Monday night. “We had at least from one side, a very civil respectful conversation. Now, in between for every statement I made, he yelled ‘liar.’ And somehow the facts didn’t matter. He just yelled ‘liar’ all the time to insult [me].”

The confrontation lasted for seven minutes. The man did not believe Cruz when he told him that Trump told The New York Times editorial board he would not build the southern border wall or deport 11 million illegal aliens.

He also did not believe that Trump wanted to punch a protester in the face at one of his own rallies to be punched in the face. The Trump supporter instead called him a “liar” after each statement Cruz made.

The protester later spoke to the media and would not give his name, but said he is from Ohio.

Bloomington, Indiana voter Christine Carter told Cruz during a stop in her town later on Monday that she admired how Cruz handled himself with the Trump supporter.

“I watched you when you were up north and you had a young gentleman certainly in your face, a Trump supporter, and you handled yourself with the utmost class,” she said. “You answered his questions and asked him to tell you how he felt about things and instead of being a gentleman himself he wasn’t, so congratulations on that.”

Cruz routinely interacts with protesters at his events.

“Now I gotta tell you those other candidates would just let those protesters do their own thing. I made a different decision. I walked across the street,” he said Monday.

The Texas senator attempted to engage an angry young boy Sunday night in Lafayette during a rally, but later told the crowd that children who misbehave toward adults should be spanked. The boy, who was likely no more than 11 years old, had told him, “You suck.” The child was escorted out of the rally by law enforcement.
