An NBC News poll released Tuesday shows that a majority of Democratic voters do not want Bernie Sanders to drop out of the presidential race.

The poll — conducted from April 25 through May 1 — found that 57 percent of participants hope Sanders stays in until the Democratic Convention in July.

Furthermore, 25 percent believe he should drop out following the final primary, and only 16 percent want him to drop out now.

The poll still gives Hillary Clinton a significant edge over Sanders.

54 percent of poll participants picked the former secretary of state as their first choice candidate compared to only 40 percent for the Vermont senator.
