ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Michael” aired a clip from the highly anticipated interview between Fox News’s Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump.
In it, Trump said that his feud with Kelly could restart, but he told her that he has “great respect” for her after she reached out to him following multiple personal attacks.
“You seem to stay angry for months. Was that real or was that strategy?” Kelly asked him. (VIDEO: Trump: Megyn Kelly Is ‘Terrific’)
Trump replied, “Well, I’m a real person. I don’t say, ‘Oh gee, I’m angry tonight, but tomorrow you’re my best friend.'”
He added that their feud “could happen again with us. I mean it could be even doing this particular interview. I have great respect for you that you were able to call me and say, ‘Let’s get together, and let’s talk.’ To me, I would not have done that,” Trump claimed.
Kelly, who was a guest on “Live,” said that the segment was “probably the most interesting part of the Trump interview.”
“After months of him being very unhappy with me, I reached out to him. I had always wanted to reach out to him from the beginning, from the Aug. 6 debate, because I am a journalist. I want to be on the sidelines. I don’t want to be on the playing field,” Kelly said. Her questioning during the August Fox News debate angered Trump.
Kelly argued that he “kept putting me on the playing field, and I just wanted to get past that. But he was angry for so long, and I didn’t want to reach out to him while he was angry.”
She said there was a “lull in the attacks in April, and I seized upon it and asked him if he would meet with me and he said he would,” Kelly said. (RELATED: Megyn Kelly Meets With Donald Trump)
Discussing her visit to Trump Tower, Kelly said, “It was an electric morning, and we had a good exchange, but the one thing we did not discuss in that hour-long meeting at Trump Tower was anything that had happened between the two of us.”
