Blake Shelton opened up about end of his marriage and said that his current girlfriend Gwen Stefani “saved my life, period.”

The country singer said in an interview with Country Music Television that his latest hit “Came Here To Forget” is all about their “perfect” relationship, according to US Weekly magazine.

“It’s not something anybody could’ve seen coming besides God, I guess, because it doesn’t look like it would make sense,” Shelton said on CMT. “All I can tell you is that it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we’re at in our lives.”

“I tell people all the time, ‘Gwen saved my life last year.’ She did,” he added. “I think she’d probably tell you something similar about me.”

The country singer said he hardly knew the pop singer when they started working together as coaches on “The Voice” in 2014.

“[We’d] high-five, and [say] ‘Good to see ya,'” Shelton said.

He said that things began to change the following season. “All of a sudden this thing just happened because of some things that we were going through, and it saved my life. Period.”

Shelton and Miranda Lambert shocked everyone last summer when they announced they were separating after four years of marriage.
