The U.S. Census released data on the fastest growing cities, and there is definitely a trend.

The data lists the top 15 fastest growing U.S. cities with more than 50,000 people from July 1, 2014 to July 1, 2015. Georgetown, Texas topped the list, earning a 7.8 percent population increase. New York City had the largest numeric increase, adding more than 55,000 people. Houston and Los Angeles came next with 40,000 and 35,000 people respectively.

Five of the top 15 cities with the greatest percentage of population growth are in the great state of Texas.

“Texas was home to five of the 11 fastest-growing cities … and five of the eight that added the most people (Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth and Dallas were the others),” the U.S. Census Bureau said in a statement.

Georgetwon, New Braunfels, Frisco, Pearland, Pflugerville made the top 15 list and  all hail from Texas. Arizona and California come in second for states, with two cities each.

All the fastest growing cities, except Ankeny, Iowa, are in the South and West. All of the cities that added the most people numerically were also in the South and West, besides New York City.

“Denver joined the list of the 20 most populous cities in the United States, moving up two spots to 19th,” the U.S. Census Bureau said in a statement. “It displaced Detroit, which fell from 18th to 21st. In addition, Seattle moved up two spots to 18th. Denver and Seattle were both among the nation’s 11 top numerically gaining cities.”
