This week’s female English teacher busted for having a festive holiday sex romp with a 17-year-old male teenager is Katie Wilmott.
Wilmott, 29, teaches at Oologah-Talala High School in Oologah, Okla. (pop: 1,146) — about 30 miles from Tulsa.
A grand jury indicted Wilmott on Thursday on a charge of second-degree rape, reports Tulsa ABC affiliate KTUL.
The indictment charges that Wilmott and the unidentified student had their whirlwind romance at some point between Dec. 24 and Jan. 8. It’s not clear how much sex allegedly occurred, but the indictment indicates that the locale for the fling was a home in Owasso, a town down the road.
The male teen was a student in one of Wilmott’s classes.
Did Wilmott and her teen paramour communicate “frequently via Snapchat, using her phone and other students’ phones?” The indictment says yes!
Local law enforcement officials began investigating the alleged dalliance based on a tip from school officials.
Wilmott, herself a 2001 Oologah-Talala High graduate, is married, according to the Oologah Lake Leader, a local newspaper.
Together with husband Jake Wilmott, she has two young children.
A soon-to-be-deleted high school webpage entitled “Mrs. Wilmott’s English Extravaganza!” features comic sans font and an enthusiastic welcome message.
“This is my second year at Oologah and I am absolutely loving it!” the teacher announces. “I’m glad to be here and ready to have a great year!”
Presumably, the webpage is old because Wilmott has taught at the high school since 2011.
Wilmott turned herself in on Friday. She was later released on a $10,000 bond.
An attorney representing the teacher strenuously denies the charges.
“Katie Wilmott absolutely denies the allegations made in the indictment being filed in Rogers County today and looks forward to clearing her name,” the attorney, Greg Dark, told the Lake Leader.
School district officials have placed Wilmott on leave and have not offered her a contract for next fall. Thus, she appears to be effectively fired.
The age of sexual consent in Oklahoma is just 16. However, a separate state law forbids teachers from having sex with current or former students until the students have reached the ripe, old age of 21.
Rural areas of Oklahoma are something of a hothouse for teacher-sex stories.

In 2014, Kalyn Thompson, a first-year high school English teacher at tiny Kellyville High School, was charged with charged with second-degree rape for allegedly having a series of sexual escapades with one of her male students. Police say the Thompson gave the unidentified student a stellar, 98-percent, straight ‘A’ grade after their relationship took off. It was an amazing turnaround for him. He had been flunking English just the semester before.
The teenager was 18 at the time of the hanky-panky. Investigators know of at least two rendezvous between the young lovers — one beside a lake and the other at the fancy-sounding Renaissance Hotel in Tulsa.
