The Victoria’s Secret catalog is dead.
Because the iconic mail-order catalog costs between $125 and $150 million to make, the lingerie brand’s parent company announced they would no longer produce it after they realized eliminating it had a “relatively small impact on sales,” Market Watch reported this week. In fact, Victoria’s Secret’s online traffic was up by 15 percent without the magazine.
“Specifically, we intend to substantially reduce direct mail couponing, printed catalog circulation and certain other historical promotions,” Limited Brands said in a statement this week.
Last month, Victoria’s Secret announced it would no longer sell swimsuits after this season, and would instead focus on bras and underwear.
