Democrat Rep. Filemon Vela sent a letter Monday to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in which he advises Trump to shove his border wall “up his ass.”
“But, I am sure that many of these individuals would agree with me when I say: ‘Mr. Trump, you’re a racist and you can take your border wall and shove it up your ass,’” the congressman wrote.
Vela regretted that he could not affect a more diplomatic tone, but writes Trump, of all people, should understand why a more aggressive tone was necessary.
In the letter, the second term congressman defends the contributions of Mexican-Americans to the United States, citing Medal of Honor winners Jose Lopez and Roy Benavides. He further asserted that a border wall threatens the American trade relationship with Mexico, the nation’s third largest trading partner.
He also took issue with Trump’s attacks on U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, the judge presiding in the civil fraud case against Trump University.
