Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is sticking in the race for the Democratic nomination and is hoping his opponent Hillary Clinton gets indicted by the FBI, according to a Politico report Tuesday night citing anonymous campaign aides.

The same report reveals that Sanders himself has been in control of his campaign, especially in recent months.

“Bernie’s been at the helm of this campaign from the beginning,” Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told Politico. He added, “and the overall message of this campaign and the direction of the campaign and the strategy, has been driven by Bernie.”

Aides said that it was Sanders who decided to strike back at Clinton after she attacked him on gun control among other things. They summed up his feelings as “screw me? No, screw you.”

It was also Sanders who decided to release a statement after the ruckus at the Nevada convention that blamed the establishment, not his supporters.

Sanders rapid response director Mike Casca complained to Weaver in an email, saying: “I don’t know who advised him that this was the right route to take, but we are now actively destroying what Bernie worked so hard to build over the last year just to pick up two fucking delegates in a state he lost.”

“Thank you for your views. I’ll relay them to the senator, as he is driving this train,” Weaver responded.
