Two Muslim men verbally and physically assaulted a waitress in Nice, France Wednesday night for serving alcohol during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
According to the Telegraph, the men approached the 30-year-old waitress — who is reportedly also Muslim — at the Vitis Cafe and called her a “dirty whore” before slapping her in the face and knocking her to the ground.
“One of them said to me in Arabic, ‘You should be ashamed of yourself for serving alcohol during Ramadan,'” she told the London Evening Standard. “If I was God I would hang you.”
“I didn’t think that in France, country of liberty, you could be attacked for that,” she added.
The waitress further stated that in addition to a black eye, the incident left her feeling “degraded, humiliated and sullied.”
“The whole scene was recorded by the security cameras that I transferred to the police,” the bar owner told the Telegraph.
Police have reportedly not yet identified the suspects.
