A retired cop killed an armed robber with a single shot to the head at around 4 a.m. Monday, the New York Daily News reports.

Andrew McClean entered a Queens bar armed with a semi-automatic handgun early Monday morning. McClean stole all of the money from the cash register and attempted to rob the patrons who remained in the bar.

But when McClean confronted a 69-year-old retired cop and demanded his money, the former police officer drew his gun and shot McClean once in the head. McClean later died at the scene.

The retired police officer, who was not named by the Daily News, worked as an officer in Upper Manhattan for several years before retiring with three-quarters disability benefits.

He has not been charged with a crime following the incident.
