Man Arrested For Attempted Trump Assassination Is In US Illegally [VIDEO]

The man arrested for attempting to assassinate Donald Trump last Saturday at a campaign rally in Las Vegas was in the country illegally after overstaying his visa.

NBC’s justice correspondent Pete Williams reports that a 20-year-old British man, Michael Steven Sanford attempted to grab a police officer’s gun out of the holster but was unable to remove it.(RELATED: 20-Year-Old Man Arrested Trying To Assassinate Trump At Las Vegas Rally)

According to Williams, Sanford “drove to Las Vegas last Thursday from California, went to a firing range to learn how to shoot a gun.”

Investigators say that if Sanford was released, the man says “he would try it again.”

NBC reports that his public defender claims Sanford has autism, previously attempted suicide and was treated for obsessive-compulsive disorder and anorexia.”

Williams said that Sanford arrived in America about a year and a half ago and “overstayed his visa.”

According to the Secret Service, Sanford has “thought about killing Trump for many months.”
