Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s former campaign head Corey Lewandowski allegedly withheld paychecks from former staffer Michael Caputo in connection with a personal dispute.

Lewandowski was publicly dismissed Monday, and staffer Caputo tweeted: “Ding dong, the witch is dead.” Caputo resigned shortly after the tweet went public.

“(working at WBEN radio NY) was my favorite thing in the world. And I couldn’t do it any more and still, I couldn’t get paid. And Lewandowski sat on my invoices and never paid them,” Caputo told Tom Bauerle, who works at the same station. Caputo went on to explain that he witnessed an argument between Lewandowski and communications director Hope Hicks in May.

Caputo claimed, “when that happened I became a part of the fight. I didn’t go there to be a part of the fight even though I’m a Manafort guy and a Trump guy from way back. But suddenly, I was assigned a team in this flag football game. And after that, uh, after that happened, it — ever since then it’s been miserable for me in that campaign. Miserable. Because I saw something I wasn’t supposed to see.”

From that point on, Caputo told listeners of the “Tom Bauerle Show,” working with Lewandowski was like “going to work with flamethrowers and waiting out on the corner until one of them comes in and just lighting them up.”

After Caputo heard about Lewandowski’s dismissal, he tweeted about it. Trump saw the tweet and reportedly “lit someone up.” Caputo was called into a meeting with his superior and Paul Manafort, now campaign director, where it was explained to Caputo that the tweet was not well-received within the campaign. Shorly afterward, Caputo resigned.
