Senator Marco Rubio told two aides that he plans on announcing his bid to run for his current seat this election year Wednesday.

Rubio is gearing up to announce his intent to run for re-election to his Senate seat in an address Wednesday, sources told the National Review. Friday is the deadline to file to run in the race.

Since ending his bid for the presidency, Rubio has repeatedly said he would not run for Senate or for a seat in the governor’s mansion. He has openly denigrated the Senate as a place where it’s difficult to get anything done, and a longtime friend of his told The Washington Post he “hates” the institution. But he’s had a change of heart, according to the National Review, after an aggressive push from the National Republican Senatorial Committee executive director on the grounds that his seat is crucial to keeping a Republican majority in the Senate.

Rubio’s choice to leak the story to the National Review is noteworthy, since the outlet is a strident opponent of presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, who defeated Rubio handily in his home state during the primary.

A new Quinnipiac poll shows Rubio leading his Democrat opponent Rep. Alan Grayson in the race by 8 points, with the support of 48 percent of the voters compared to 40 percent for Grayson.

Trump once criticized Rubio for entering the presidential race against former mentor Jeb Bush, but urged Rubio to run in May, tweeting he has the best chance of winning the seat.

Poll data shows that @marcorubio does by far the best in holding onto his Senate seat in Florida. Important to keep the MAJORITY. Run Marco!
