Deputy Majority Whip: Democrats Have ‘Exploited’ Orlando For ‘Political Purpose’ [VIDEO]

House Deputy Majority Whip Tom Cole argued that Democrats have “exploited” the Orlando terrorist attack for “political purpose.”

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday, Cole advised Democrats that if they want to get legislation passed they shouldn’t “do it with stunts on the floor, you do it with serious legislation introduced, usually worked in a bipartisan manner.”

“I think there’s some evidence — there’s an effort under way in the Senate to do something like that,” he said, referring to ensuring that people are not wrongfully placed on the FBI’s terror watchlist.

Cole said, “But it’s worth noting had any of these laws passed they wouldn’t have stopped anything that happened in Orlando. That’s the sad truth here.”

“So the idea there’s some magic legislative fix to what’s a deep social cultural problem I think is an illusion,” Cole argued. “And frankly, I think it’s a situation where the Democrats have exploited this tragedy for political purpose, and that’s very unfortunate, and particularly when it damages the institution of the House itself.”
