The first baby with a Zika-related microcephaly was just born in Florida.

According to ABC, the baby’s mother — a Haitian national — was infected before coming to America to receive medical treatment and give birth.

The Centers for Disease Control notes that adults infected with the Zika virus only suffer minute symptoms, yet the virus can cause major complications during pre-natal development.

The Florida baby is the third reported case of a Zika-related microcephaly — characterized by an abnormally small head and underdeveloped brain — on United States soil, with the other two cases occurring in New Jersey and Hawaii.

The Florida Department of Health released the following statement after announcing the baby’s birth:

The CDC recommends that women who are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant postpone travel to Zika affected areas. According to CDC guidance, providers should consider testing all pregnant women with a history of travel to a Zika affected area for the virus. CDC also recommends that a pregnant woman with a history of Zika virus and her provider should consider additional ultrasounds.

The DOH declined to give the name of the hospital housing the mother and child.
