Swedish police are combating the problem of teenage men groping girls during crowded events by rolling out a campaign with bracelets and a hashtag.

The summer months in Sweden are filled with music festivals and outdoor events for teenagers, which likely means a spike in groping of young girls. Swedish police announced Tuesday that they will handout bracelets at events throughout the summer, as part of a campaign to stop the groping.

“We hope this will, above anything else, make guys think once or twice,” National Police Chief Dan Eliasson told news agency TT. “A lot of people don’t realize this is a crime.”

The hashtag #tafsainte (don’t grope) is also part of the campaign. (RELATED: 7 Hashtags That Prove Twitter Activism Can Change Human History)

The issue came to light after the sexual assault scandal on New Year’s Eve in Cologne, where close to 500 girls reported getting sexually assaulted. German police attempted to cover up what happened to protect the foreign perpetrators. Days later, media reported several instances from the past where Swedish police did the same. “I think it’s a big problem, not only at festivals but in the streets as well,” Ayesha, a 17-year-old girl, told The Local.

The police are now trying to come out ahead and want girls to report any instances of groping. They also reached out to males, asking them if they really want to go down in history as gropers.

“If you feel uncomfortable, you should immediately go to the police and talk to us because it’s not ok,” Eliasson said. “Who wants to be remembered as the guy who gropes? For the love of god guys, think!”
