Elizabeth Gilbert, the 46-year-old author who wrote “Eat Pray Love,” and her husband Jose Nunes are splitting up after 12 years together, Gilbert announced on her Facebook page Friday.

“Because I have shared details of my private life with you all so intimately over the years, I feel the need to share with you this recent change in my personal life,” Gilbert wrote. “I am separating from the man whom many of you know as ‘Felipe’ — the man whom I fell in love with at the end of the EAT PRAY LOVE journey.”

“Our split is very amicable. Our reasons are very personal.”

“Eat Pray Love” became a bestseller after Gilbert published it in 2006 and it was eventually turned into a movie starring Julia Roberts.

In the book, Gilbert details the worldwide journey she took after she ended things with her first husband. It ends with her meeting Nunes.
