Donald Trump said on Wednesday during his campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio, “I can tell you in one form or another, Newt Gingrich is going to be involved with our government.”
After chants of “Newt” broke out during his rally, Trump said, “Wow. I like like that too. We like Newt. And I’ll tell you what, Newt, Newt has been my friend for a long time, and I’m not saying anything, and I’m not telling even Newt anything, but I can tell you in one form or another, Newt Gingrich is going to be involved with our government. After the crowd roared in approval, Trump said of Gingrich, “He’s smart. He’s tough. He gets it, and he says I’m the biggest thing he’s ever seen in the history of politics. Earlier on Wednesday, both Sen. Joni Ernst and Sen. Bob Corker, who had been on many short lists, indicated that they would not want to be Trump’s vice president.
