FBI Director James Comey refused to answer whether the FBI was investigating the Clinton Foundation during his Capitol Hill testimony Thursday.
Congressman Jason Chaffetz asked Comey if the FBI was investigating the Clinton Foundation, to which Comey replied “I’m not going to comment on the existence or nonexistence of any other investigations.”
The Utah congressman followed up with, “Was the Clinton Foundation tied into this investigation?”
Comey quickly responded, “I’m not going to answer that.”
The Clinton Foundation has been in hot water before, and has been a topic of debate throughout the election cycle.
Sen. Bernie Sanders stated in a June interview with CNN that the Clinton group is “a foundation run by her husband,” which “collects many, many dollars from foreign governments — governments which are dictatorships.”
Chaffetz additionally requested confirmation from Comey that Clinton’s server “was originally set up by … former President Bill Clinton.” Comey replied, “correct.”
The FBI director noted he did not know who paid for her server to be set up.
