In a Tuesday interview with the Dutch news program “Nieuwsuur,” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange blasted Hillary Clinton for saying anyone who disagrees with her politically is an agent of a foreign government.

“Whenever we publish about some major institution, they always try to make a distraction,” Assange explained. “But I think it is a serious claim by the Clinton campaign.”

“They have now said that an electoral candidate, Trump, is somehow an agent of the Russians. They’ve said another investigative publisher, The Intercept, is an agent of the Russians, a stooge of the Russians, that WikiLeaks is. Even in the Bernie Sanders process they’ve tried to imply that.”

He noted Clinton’s behavior “hearkens back to a very grim period in USA history of McCarthyism, where anyone you’re politically opposed to you say is an agent of a foreign government.”

Assange has heavily criticized Clinton in recent weeks. (VIDEO: Assange: Hillary Tries To Link Trump To Putin To Hide Her ‘Many Connections’ To Russia)

Over the weekend, he told Russia Today that the reason the former secretary of state works so hard to link Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin is to mask her “many connections” to both Russia and terrorist organizations like ISIS.
