Despite Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s woes in recent weeks, things look promising in terms of winning her upcoming primary against her challenger Tim Canova.

Political analysts project Wasserman Schultz – who resigned as Democratic National Committee chair after a mass email leak showing she had actively attempted to derail Sen. Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign – will overcome the scandal and easily win Florida’s 23rd District in November.

“I think on the basis of demographics, it doesn’t matter who the challenger is or what the issues are, barring something like an indictment, it’s her district,” Democratic political strategist Ben Pollara told Politico.

A survey conducted by Broward/Miami-Dade in early August shows Canova, who has been endorsed by Sanders, trailing his opponent 46 to 38 percent with 16 percent still undecided.

While the candidate is trailing in the polls, he has managed to raise a whopping $637,924.10 since May, with more pouring in ahead of the Aug. 30 election.

Wasserman Schultz and Canova will square off in a 15-minute debate Sunday.
