CNN anchor Brianna Keilar interviewed Republican nominee Donald Trump’s legal counsel Michael Cohen Wednesday, and the conversation was very awkward.
Cohen left the interview very confident, telling Yahoo he “controlled the interview,” later adding, “I think I unraveled her.”

The awkwardness started when Cohen protested CNN’s coverage of the Trump campaign changes as a “shakeup.”
“First of all, I have got to stop you for one second because there is no shake-up. I mean look at the words you use and you blast at the bottom in your banner: shake-up, overhaul, dramatic, desperate measures. There are no desperate measures,” Cohen said.
“You just literally read the memo that you received that Paul Manafort sent out, stating he’s not going anywhere. The campaign is on its way to victory and yet you use the ridiculous words in order to incite something.”
Cohen concluded that the addition to the team was nothing more than adding “to the existing group of winners that he hired for the campaign.” Cohen then accused CNN of not potentially handling a hypothetically similar top adviser change for the Clinton campaign in the same manner.
The most awkward portion of the interview began when Keilar asked Cohen what he would call the staffing change, “You say it is not a shakeup, but you guys are down.”
Cohen demanded, “says who?” Keilar responded after a few seconds pause with, “Polls. Most of them. All of them.” Cohen apparently didn’t hear the response, because he repeated his question.
“Polls. I just told you. I answered your question,” Keilar said. Cohen then asked what polls showed the Trump campaign was down.
This was far from the only embarrassing interview involving the two major party candidates. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has had several over the years, including in 2015, when she laughed during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper after she was asked if her emails would become a serious theme in the campaign.
In another interview in April on CNN, Clinton responded with a very awkward phrase about how she planned to handle the Republican nominee. “I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak.”
Trump and vice presidential candidate Gov. Mike Pence also had an awkward interview in July when Pence’s nomination was first announced. Pence seemingly had to ask for permission before answering a question regarding political differences between the two men.
