NFL star Darren Sharper was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison Thursday morning.
Back in 2015, the former Packers, Vikings and Saints safety admitted to raping multiple women in efforts to strike a plea deal of 9 years with prosecutors. (RELATED: Sharper Admits To Raping Multiple Women In Multiple States)
However, a Louisiana judge struck down the deal Thursday on the grounds that it wasn’t strict enough for such a “monster,” reports TMZ.
Sources close to the case told TMZ Sharper is expected to serve 85 percent of his sentence, resulting in a prison term of 13-14 years.
A five-timer Pro Bowler, Sharper was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV-winning New Orleans Saints.
During his 14-year NFL career, he was known as one of the hardest-hitting safeties in the league.
