Three U.S. Post Office employees were indicted Thursday for illegally distributing marijuana throughout the Washington, D.C., region in packages and accepting cash bribes for the service.

Authorities arrested the three employees from a postal office in Northeast D.C. Thursday for moving an estimated 220 pounds of marijuana through the office since September 2015. Deenvaughn Rowe, the manager, used two mail carriers to assist in the scheme. Rowe would handle incoming marijuana shipments and fake the necessary paperwork for the package, reports The Washington Post.

He would then send carriers Kendra Brantley and Alicia Norman to meet with people in the District and neighboring states to exchange the shipments for cash. Officials said Rowe deposited $31,485 stemming from the illegal sales into a personal bank account.

The shipments allegedly came from Oregon and California to the Lamond Riggs and River Terrace post offices in Northeast, D.C. Authorities charged Rowe, Brantley and Norman with bribery and distribution of a controlled substance, reports WUSA9.

Law enforcement officials uncovered the distribution scheme in March and monitored the two carriers, who reportedly had several encounters with a white ranger rover with California plates. Authorities also recorded several phone calls between the three offenders discussing their plans.

Police released Brantley and Norman Thursday on personal recognizance and are scheduled to appear in court at the end of the month. Authorities did not release Rowe, who will appear in court Monday.
