An inmate in an Oklahoma jail came to the aid of a detention officer after another inmate attacked him.

Tashka Robert Frank Maret, 24, started swinging at detention officer Matthew Hudson, picked him up, and body-slammed him to the ground at the Payne County jail Aug. 8. Robert Charles Hammock was sitting nearby, apparently waiting to be released from jail, and came to the officer’s aid, according to local television affiliate KOCO 5.

WATCH:

Maret asks Hudson to go to the bathroom, and when Hudson opens the cell, he immediately starts swinging. The officer calls for backup, but before others could arrive, the inmate slammed him to the ground. Hammock comes up behind Maret and grabs him and helps Hudson bring him to the ground.

Maret will face a charge of assault on a police officer, which could result in a five years in prison if convicted.
