How Not To End Up Like The Dead Girl In ‘The Night Of’

In the first episode of HBO’s acclaimed TV show “The Night Of,” two characters end up taking drugs and sleeping together. Then, one of them ends up dead. Before that happens, they play a game that the show calls “mumbly-pick,” although I think most people know it as “five finger fillet.” The point of the game is to stab at a person’s hand with a knife without looking. Hopefully, you land the knife between the spread-out fingers, rather than into the flesh itself. Here’s an example of a successful mumbly-pick turn:

Right on the money! Unfortunately, after a couple of rounds, Naz misses. He stabs through Andrea’s hand. It’s very bloody. It probably would have hurt a lot had Andrea not been high on ketamine and molly. To add death to injury, later that night, someone murders her.

What’s my point? Good question. My point is that if you want to play the knife game like the two crazy kids in “The Night Of,” then you should probably wear a pair of cut-resistant gloves so that your hand stays protected. And even if you don’t want to play that game, the gloves are actually made for regular non-psychotic food preparation use. Either way, the #1 most popular pair of such gloves is on currently on sale.
