Al Sharpton had a slip of the tongue on MSNBC Friday morning.

Sharpton sought to make the point that over the past 35-40 years, the only time the black community’s wealth disparity shrank was under Democratic presidents.

Unfortunately, for the reverend, he said the exact opposite.

“Let’s look at the facts,” he stated. “When President Obama took office, black unemployment was at 16.8 percent. It is now 8 percent. He cut employment, black unemployment in half. So what is Trump talking about?”

“Ronald Reagan left, it was 11.8 percent,” Sharpton continued. “So if he is saying under Democrats and Republicans — the facts don’t even even add up. In the last 35, 40 years, we’ve had more Republicans in power in Washington — Reagan, Bush Senior, then Bush Jr. — as opposed to just Clinton and Obama.”

“So under what Democratic leadership is he talking about that blacks suffered, when we have been most of the time in the last three or four decades under the Republicans? When the Democrats were in, unemployment went down, our wealth gap went up, on and on and on.

Sharpton closed by reiterating that Trump was “factually wrong.”
