A pro-LBGTQ lobby has released a “shame list” of more than 100 colleges with religious affiliations that are supposedly the “absolute worst campuses for LGBTQ youth in the U.S.”
In their release, Campus Pride said the list was created for “calling out the harmful and shameful acts of religion-based prejudice and bigotry.”
Campus Pride publicly attacked these schools, claiming they are perpetuating “religion-based bigotry” by exercising their constitutional right to request a Title IX exemption. All 102 schools on the list have either applied for or received a Title IX exemption.
Title IX exemptions allow Christian schools to practice the First Amendment right to enforce their religious beliefs and expectations of sexuality, gender and marriage when considering prospective and current students. Title IX exemptions essentially permit Christian institutions to uphold campus policies that maintain the traditional definition of marriage.
Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride, went to the lengths of labeling the religious policies of these universities “careless and life-threatening.”
“Families and young people deserve to know that this list of schools are the worst for LGBTQ youth. They are not loving, welcoming, safe spaces to live, learn and grow,” claims Windmeyer.
