Rush Limbaugh Confirms That Nothing Trump (Or Clinton) Says Matters Anymore

Assuming it ever did.

I stopped listening to Limbaugh years ago, but lots of people are talking about the following exchange from yesterday’s show. Here’s the audio of a caller chastising El Rushbo for denying that Donald Trump is flip-flopping on immigration:

Did you get all that? Rush knew the whole time that Trump didn’t mean what he was saying, but he pretended to believe it anyway. And it doesn’t matter, because Rush is just a radio guy.

Twelve years ago, when Jon Stewart pulled this same tactic against the guy who would later become my boss, I called it “Clown nose off, clown nose on.” We’re supposed to pay attention to the famous person because his opinions are important, but we shouldn’t criticize him for his opinions because… they’re not really important.

That’s dishonest. I didn’t like it back in 2004, and I don’t like it now. You shouldn’t trust any of these people. Sorry, but you just shouldn’t. Hell, you shouldn’t even trust me when I tell you that. Sure, that’s an oxymoron, but you should think for yourself.

I like that caller, though. He’s honest, he’s articulate, and he’s got a good head on his shoulders. He went toe to toe with El Rushbo and got him to admit what he really thinks of his own listeners. I’d listen to that guy’s radio show. Well done, sir.
