Hillary Clinton acknowledged for the first time Wednesday that it is “possible” that her email system was hacked while she was overseas on State Department business.

Appearing at a forum hosted by NBC News, host Matt Lauer asked Clinton about the FBI’s assessment that while there was no evidence that Clinton’s email system was hacked, it is possible that sophisticated foreign spy agencies infiltrated her private server and email account.

“Matt, there’s no evidence,” said Clinton. But she added: “Of course anything is possible.”

Clinton then suggested that her private system was superior to the State Department’s.

“But what is factual, is the State department system was hacked,” Clinton said. “Most of the government systems are way behind the curve. We’ve had hacking repeatedly, even in the White House.”

While the FBI’s report on its Clinton email investigation does state that investigators found no direct evidence that Clinton’s email system was hacked, the analysis was incomplete because investigators were unable to obtain all of Clinton’s BlackBerries. They were also unable to view all of the logs from Clinton’s server.

“As a result, FBI cyber analysts relied, in large part, on witness statements, email correspondence, and related forensic content found on other devices to understand the setup, maintenance, administration, and security of the server systems,” the report states.

It also notes that Clinton’s system was “potentially vulnerable to compromise” as soon as she started using it.

A Daily Caller investigation found earlier this year that Clinton sent and received dozens of emails while she was in countries like Russia and China with robust spy agencies. (RELATED: Hillary Sent Dozens Of Emails From Russia, China)

The report noted that she exchanged some of those overseas emails with President Obama.

“On [redacted] occasions while OCONUS (Outside Continental U.S.), Clinton had direct e-mail contact with an e-mail address for President Barack Obama,” the report reads. “Of the [redacted] e-mails between Clinton and President Obama, [redacted] were sent and received [redacted].”

The FBI report suggests that Clinton’s decision to email with Obama from her private BlackBerry while she was overseas put his email account at risk of being hacked.
