It’s official: The media is going after political figures who have coughing fits.

And they’re not all named Hillary Clinton.

In a story published Thursday, the Los Angeles Times went after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for opining on Clinton’s ongoing coughing while suddenly having his own on-air attack on Sean Hannity‘s radio program. Hannity has been focused on what he believes is Hillary’s poor health as of late. Gingrich was among Donald Trump‘s possible VP picks before he ultimately went with Mike Pence.

Call it divine intervention. But didn’t big-headed, smug, media-hating Gingrich deserve this karma just a little?

“Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich took to the radio waves to discuss Hillary Clinton’s health – a favorite meme among conservative conspiracy theorists as of late,” wrote writer Seema Mehta. “But moments after he called the Democratic nominee’s recent coughing fit “a little disturbing,” Gingrich had to pause for a brief throat spasm himself.”

On Monday’s radio program, Gingrich discussed Clinton’s coughing and said he hoped she was OK.

Gingrich compared their respective coughing attacks and said his 20-second “throat spasm” was because of all the time he spends in airplanes.

The LAT reporter took a jab at him, adding,”He made no mention that Clinton herself is doing much the same as she crisscrosses the nation for rallies and fundraisers.”
