Keith Olbermann Is Coming Back To TV, Sort Of

Font Size:

After Keith Olbermann’s most recent firing, you might’ve asked the same thing I did: “Where will Olby go next? Who in the world will take him in now?” But you probably didn’t ask that, because you didn’t even notice he was gone. Most people didn’t.

For those of us who enjoy watching Keith bounce from one future ex-employer to the next, though, today is a happy day: He’s coming back!

Well… sort of? Not really. Alex Weprin, Politico:

Former MSNBC and ESPN host Keith Olbermann is getting another show, but this one isn’t on TV.

Olbermann will host a bi-weekly series for GQ magazine called “The Closer with Keith Olbermann…”

Olbermann will “be providing commentary on the election, with the flexibility to delve into other timely issues when relevant,” a GQ spokesperson told POLITICO’s Joe Pompeo.

Oh, okay. It’s a podcast. Keith Olbermann will be doing a podcast.

Which is fine. Lots of people watch TV online these days. You’ve got Netflix and Hulu and Amazon, and soon you’ll have Olby. Right there on your laptop or tablet, whenever you want. Olby On Demand!

That is, until he inevitably flames out and starts feuding with GQ for failing to live up to his standards. But that’s the best part anyway. Watching him storm out is always more fun than watching him say boring things into a camera.

Here’s a quick preview of the sort of thing we can expect, apparently:

The audio sounds like crap, but I’m sure they’ll sort out the technical problems before they start doing the actual podcast. Finally, we’ll have somebody in the media who’s brave enough to take on Donald Trump…

Good luck, GQ. You’re gonna need it.
