Passengers on a flight to Venice had to sit through two hours of a migrant repeatedly yelling “Allahu Akbar,” “death is coming” and “today we will die,” while thrashing about in his seat.

The captain and crew of the budget airline flight did not officially address the man’s repeated screams, leaving the terrified passengers to their own devices and bringing children to tears, reports the Daily Mail. The migrant was being deported, and passengers eventually realized he was escorted by officials, who were working to restrain him.

“Hey, Allahu Akbar!” the man shouts in an audio recording obtained by the Daily Mail, interrupting the captain speaking of the weather and such. “Today we will die!” He screamed “Allahu Akbar” 29 times, according to the Daily Mail, “death is coming” 17 times and “we will die” nine times.

Passengers report the migrant kept up the yelling for the duration of the flight, which took off from Gatwick, England. Rather than comfort the passengers or explain the situation, Easy Jet crew members reportedly ordered them to delete photos and videos they had taken on their phones.

“The worst-case scenario was that we weren’t going to get off that plane alive because we didn’t know who the person was, what the circumstances were or anything,” Lucy O’Sullivan, a 33-year-old passenger told the Daily Mail. “There was nothing explained to us. It was very daunting.”

European countries are desperately working to deport migrants as the crisis worsens. Germany has taken in 1.5 million refugees since the start of 2015 and is now trying to ramp up deportations. Hundreds of refugees have remained in the country, however, by simply refusing to get on the outbound flights.
