ISIS is on the run. Obama got Bin Laden. (Well, Hillary did, but he helped.) And yet you wingnuts keep freaking out about terrorism, instead of climate change and the NRA and whatever else you’re supposed to be freaking out about.
Relax. They got this.
Marc Santora, Adam Goldman, Rukmini Callimachi, and Nate Schweber, NYT:
Two years before the bombings that Ahmad Khan Rahami is suspected of carrying out in New York and New Jersey, his father told the police that his son was a terrorist, prompting a review by federal agents, according to two law enforcement officials.
The father, Mohammad Rahami, in a brief interview on Tuesday, said that at the time he told agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his concern, his son had just had a fight with another of his sons and stabbed the man, leading to a criminal investigation…
It is not clear if officers ever interviewed Ahmad Rahami, but as investigators turn their focus to what might have motivated, inspired or led him to plant bombs in Chelsea in Manhattan and on the Jersey Shore, new clues are emerging indicating that he may have been increasingly receptive to extremist ideology.
What sort of “extremist ideology” are we talking about? It took four NYT reporters to write up a story about it, yet none of them bother to specify the “extremist ideology.” They do mention “jihadists” and “jidhadist causes,” but that could mean anything. Isn’t that right, you conservative teahadists?
We can’t use the words “Islam” or “Muslim” when discussing these things, because that’s an insult to all the Muslims who didn’t blow anything up. Or stab anybody. Or shoot up a gay bar. Or otherwise complicate the prevailing narrative. It’s a disservice to all those good people.
Just like nobody ever points out that Dylann Roof is white.
Words to look for in this @NYTimes story on Ahmad Rahami:
Islam ❌
Muslim ❌

Josh Earnest is right about one thing: This really is a “war of narratives.” It’s just that he and the NYT and the rest of them are on the other side.
P.S. This just in…
