Carol Costello briefly apologized for a phrase she used on CNN Wednesday morning while discussing police shootings.

The CNN Newsroom host then played a clip of Hillary Clinton on the Steve Harvey show promising to speak “directly to white people” to improve the relationship between police and the black community.

“A couple of things here,” Costello posed to her panel of guests. “First of all, we don’t have all the facts in the Oklahoma case. We don’t really know exactly what happened or why police felt they had to open fire.”

“Oh, that’s a terrible,” she clarified. “Forget I said that. Isn’t Hillary Clinton getting ahead of herself?
