The poll results were gathered from 1,100 participants “whose demographics were representative of the general population,” according to ESPN. (RELATED: Colin Kaepernick Claims He’s Gotten Death Threats)

The poll revealed that the San Francisco 49ers player was “disliked a lot” by 29 percent of the 1,100 people polled. That percentage was 7 percent more than the next most disliked player Jameis Winston. More than 350 NFL players were included in the survey, ESPN reports.

Negativity toward Kaepernick is “even higher among NFL fans,” according to ESPN. Currently 36 percent of fans “say they dislike him ‘a lot,’ up from just 10 percent when last asked two years ago.”

However, Kaepernick is more popular than ever among African-Americans.

The poll revealed that 42 percent of African-Americans “like the 49ers quarterback ‘a lot,’ while only 2 percent dislike him ‘a lot,'” according to ESPN. Just two years ago, only 16 percent of African-Americans claimed they liked Kaepernick “a lot,” and 3 percent claimed to dislike him “a lot.”

Clearly the recent poll is reflective of the San Francisco quarterback’s refusal to stand for the national anthem in protest of racial injustice in America. Many have supported Kaepernick’s cause, while others have viewed it as a disrespectful act toward the flag and the military.
