A woman had her watch stolen in Thailand, but it wasn’t until she flipped through trip photos that she realized where it went, reports the New York Post.

A couple’s vacation photo captured the exact moment the woman lost her watch to ninja-level thieves.

The photo shows a smiling woman standing between two children, one of whom appears to be liberating the woman’s watch from her wrist. The picture was taken by the woman’s boyfriend and posted to Reddit under the title “Girlfriend in progress of having her watch stolen.”

The couple apparently wasn’t sure what had happened to the woman’s watch. Looking through the photos from their visit to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple in Chiang Mai, it all became clear. “This pic solved the mystery of the missing watch,” the man explained in the comments on Reddit.

A number of other commenters, of which there were thousands, mentioned that they too have encountered these kids.

A related image was posted on imgur by another user.

“Those kids aren’t good, they’re expert. That watch is long gone,” wrote one commenter reportedly familiar with Chiang Mai.

Others commented on the tragic situations of child thieves, who are often abused or forced into a life a crime by their parents.

The unpleasant experiences of these two travelers should serve as warnings to others.
