Syria’s UN Ambassador Bashar Al Jaafari giggled when an Al Jazeera English reporter asked him if the Syrian regime was responsible for bombing two hospitals in Aleppo.

WATCH:

The question comes after the Assad regime targeted the last two remaining hospitals in the rebel-held areas of Aleppo.

Aleppo residents report it was the worst bombing in the nearly five years of civil war, including the use of bunker busting bombs by Russia.

Hundreds of Aleppo residents have been killed in the last five days, after a failed ceasefire brokered by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

The hospitals were struck in the middle of the night, and wiped out the only remaining rapid response trauma center in that area of the city. There are nearly 250,000 residents in rebel-held Aleppo, and food supplies have nearly hit zero.

Russia and Syria have undertaken a concerted effort to make life as miserable as possible inside Aleppo, to accelerate their siege of the city. Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization told The New York Times yesterday children were “dying on the floors of hospitals” for want of medical supplies.

After the bombing, there is no hospital floor for them to die on.
