Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Josh Gordon has decided to take a leave from professional football and enter rehab.

The electric receiver was slated to return week five against the New England Patriots after serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He will now be headed for rehab days before his highly anticipated return, according to a statement released from the Cleveland Browns. (SLIDESHOW: Celebrate The NFL Season With The Hottest Cheerleaders In The Game)

Gordon also addressed the situation on his own Twitter stating that he was taking a “timeout” to do what was best for him.

The University of Utah product has been in trouble with the league routinely ever since he lit up the NFL in 2013. Unfortunately this could be the nail in the coffin of a promising career for the young star.
