Get ready, America, because “The Gong Show” will be returning to your television sets soon.

ABC is bringing the cult classic talent show for an initial 10-episode run, reports Deadline Hollywood. The production company is Sony Pictures TV.

The new “Gong Show” will be pretty much like the original version, which filled random airtime seemingly ubiquitously from 1976 through 1980.

The reboot of the zany, absurdist anything-goes talent show will feature offbeat — sometimes bizarre — performers who will perform in front of a live studio audience for the favor of an ever-changing panel of celebrity judges who can either rate the performance or, if it’s terrible, bang a huge gong to bring the performance to a merciful end.

The twist this time is that the show will find much of its talent by scouring the bowels of the Internet.

Actor Will Arnett will be the host of the new “Gong Show.” He will also serve as the executive producer.

“We are thrilled to add ‘The Gong Show’ to ABC’s schedule spearheaded by the incomparable Will Arnett,” ABC spokesman Rob Mills told Deadline Hollywood.

“The comedy culture we are living in has finally caught up to ‘The Gong Show,’ so the timing is perfect,” Sony Pictures TV spokeswoman Holly Jacobs added. “We’ve found just the right partners to bring back this iconic original.”

The original “Gong Show” was hosted by legendary game-show producer Chuck Barris.
