CNN Meteorologist Chad Myers used a washing machine analogy to describe the angular momentum of Hurricane Matthew on Friday, and he used his own pipes to supply the sound effects.

“I’ve got a question for you,” he posed to CNN Newsroom host Carol Costello. “Do you have a front-loading washing machine or a top-loading washing machine.”

“Front-loading,” Costello responded.

“Ok, so you put a rug in the washing machine,” Myers continued. “And it goes and it does its wash and all of a sudden it’s trying to spin and it’s on one side of the washing machine and goes glunk, clunk, glunk, clunk.

“Then you have to shut it off and start all over. That’s what this hurricane is doing,” he explained. “It has one piece of rug on the north side of the spin, and that’s where the wobbles come from. That’s why your washing machine wobbles.”
