Sen. Marco Rubio says Republicans shouldn’t talk about John Podesta emails leaked by the hacktivist group WikiLeaks, because they may have been hacked by Russians.

The WikiLeaks emails contain a wealth of embarrassing information from inside Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, including complaints about Clinton’s behavior and instances of journalists providing support and assistance to the Democratic Party. (RELATED: Politico Reporter Admits He’s A ‘Hack,’ Gets Article Approved By Podesta)

Nevertheless, Rubio says it’s inappropriate to discuss the contents of the emails, solely because they may have been stolen by a foreign government.

“As our intelligence agencies have said, these leaks are an effort by a foreign government to interfere with our electoral process and I will not indulge it,” Rubio told ABC News in a statement published early Wednesday morning. “Further, I want to warn my fellow Republicans who may want to capitalize politically on these leaks: Today it is the Democrats. Tomorrow it could be us.”

Rubio flatly stated that going forward he wouldn’t talk about WikiLeaks.

“I will not discuss any issue that has become public solely on the basis of Wikileaks,” he said.

Rubio’s position puts him at odds with the campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who aggressively criticizes the media for allegedly underreporting Wikileaks revelations.

Rubio says he will vote for Trump in November, but also avoids campaigning with him. Earlier this week, he denounced Trump’s claim that November’s election is being “rigged” thanks to voter fraud.
