Support for an “assault weapons” ban is at an all-time record low, a new Gallup poll shows.

According to Gallup, the least amount of Americans in 20 years support passing legislation or imposing any measures that would making it illegal to manufacture, sell or have semi-automatic firearms called “assault rifles” by supporters of the gun control policy.

Only 36 percent presently want an assault weapons ban. This is down from 44 percent in 2012 and 57 percent when Gallup initially asked the question in 1996, two years after Bill Clinton signed a ban into law.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has pledged to bring back the assault weapons ban if she is elected to the White House.
