An academic psychologist just can’t comprehend why some women view Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton unfavorably.

Anglia Ruskin University psychologist Magdalena Zawisza speculates the only reasons women aren’t flocking to support Clinton are that they’re sexist against other women and are being held hostage by “power of the status quo.”

“Just when you thought sexism was a thing of the past, revelations about Donald Trump bragging about groping women hit the news,” Zawisza wrote in The Conversation. “Yet only 13 per cent of female Republicans think he should stop campaigning for the presidency. While women generally favour his Democratic rival Hilary Clinton, 49% of them rate her unfavourably. Despite her life-long commitment to public service, she is often criticised as a bad mother.”

Zawisza goes on to analogize Clinton’s struggle to become president to a woman who was gunned down in Afghanistan for attempting to go to school. She then claims that Clinton has exactly the right “iron fist” in a “velvet glove” to smash sexism and “gender stereotypical behaviours” holding women back. Zawisza also claims that research has shown that the fact Clinton is female will boost “organisational performance and the national economy.”

Zawisza’s bio states that she studies gender and other social issues surrounding advertising, brand image and consumer behavior and focuses on “diversity and equality.”

Currently, Clinton is viewed unfavorably by 53.1 percent of Americans, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls. Roughly 44 percent of women view Clinton “very unfavorably” and another 10 percent view her “somewhat unfavorably,” according to a Economist/YouGov Poll published earlier this month.
