Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta gave a barbed reaction to the resignation of David Brock from a pro-Hillary PAC.
“Sure you’ve seen this – Brock sent his letter to me and has called me. Happy to download,” Bill Clinton adviser Tina Flournoy wrote to Podesta on February 9, 2015 in an email conversation that appeared on WikiLeaks as a result of a reported hack of Podesta’s Gmail account.
Flournoy had referenced a Politico piece published that day reporting Brock’s resignation and the letter that Brock had wrote.
According to Politico, Brock wrote in his letter that the Clinton PAC, Priorities USA attempted to hurt his own group’s fundraising abilities “while presumably enhancing Priorities’ own. Frankly, this is the kind of dirty trick I’ve witnessed in the right-wing and would not tolerate then. Our Democratic Presidential nominee deserves better than people who would risk the next election — and our country’s future — for their own personal agendas.”
He later wrote that a “serious breach of trust between organizations that are supposed to work together toward common ends has created an untenable situation that leaves me no choice but to resign my position.”
Podesta responded to Flournoy’s email of Brock’s resignation letter, “Welcome to whacko land.”
