House Speaker Paul Ryan said Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton should not be briefed on classified information in the wake of the FBI’s announcement it is reopening its investigation into her private email server Friday.

The Wisconsin Republican blasted the former secretary of state for her carelessness when handling the country’s top secrets.

“Yet again, Hillary Clinton has nobody but herself to blame. She was entrusted with some of our nation’s most important secrets, and she betrayed that trust by carelessly mishandling highly classified information,” he said in a statement. “This decision, long overdue, is the result of her reckless use of a private email server, and her refusal to be forthcoming with federal investigators. I renew my call for the Director of National Intelligence to suspend all classified briefings for Secretary Clinton until this matter is fully resolved.”

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy concurred with the speaker’s sentiments, saying people deserve answers on how she conducted herself as a top public official.

“Today’s news of the FBI’s decision to reopen its investigation into Secretary Clinton once again showcases her fundamental lack of judgment and disregard for protecting and handling of our nation’s highly classified secrets,” McCarthy said in a statement. “I call upon the FBI to conduct this investigation expeditiously, and thoroughly brief the American people of its findings in a completely transparent manner.”

FBI director James Comey wrote a letter to Congress Friday, announcing information found in an unrelated case prompted the agency to re-up its probe into whether the emails contained classified information. Comey initially suggested no charges be made in July, saying she mishandled the information, but didn’t believe Clinton or her staff intended to violate the law.
