A drunken 63-year-old Russian man murdered and dismembered his friend over an insult to his accordion skills, according to Russia’s MediaZone news agency.
Local police said the man attacked his 66-year-old friend during a drunken argument. The perpetrator beat his friend in the head and legs, later finishing him off by smashing him with a retrieved sledgehammer. He then reportedly passed out after the deed was done.
After leaving the body in his home for three days, the perpetrator used an ax to dismember the victim. He then smuggled out pieces of his deceased friend in trash bags and suitcases. Trash collectors later found the body parts outside the victim’s apartment building. The collectors alerted police, who identified the victim and perpetrator the same day.
Police tracked the perpetrator to a village near the city of Cheboksary. The man gave himself up to police after resisting arrest for several hours with a pitchfork, subsequently confessing to the murder. He added that there were still pieces of the victim in his apartment, as the strenuous job of disposing of the corpse had fatigued him.
