The man whose voice greeted you when logging into AOL with “you’ve got mail” is now an Uber driver in Ohio.
His name is Elwood Edwards and his new gig was revealed by Brandee Barker, a Californian who was in Ohio canvassing for Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Barker was riding in Edwards car when he told her about his old voiceover work with AOL.
“I completely geek freaked and asked if he would do the video,” Barker told CNN, which she shared on her Twitter account.

Edwards was hired as a voice actor for AOL because his wife worked there. The company reportedly paid him $200 to record “Welcome,” “You’ve got mail,” “File’s Done” and “Goodbye.”
The recently retired voice actor appeared on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” last year where he read off some popular phrases such as “dat ass tho” before saying “file’s done, goodbye” and exiting the stage.
Edwards might regret doing that video for Barker if he keeps driving Uber, because everybody in Cleveland now knows the “you’ve got mail” man might be driving them home from the bar.
